I really enjoy theatre photography. With the room being so dark it can be hard work to take sharp shots but it’s very satisfying when it comes off. I tend to use a 70-200mm lens and shoots at ISO1600, f2.8 and then vary the speed depending on the lighting.
Lighting in a theatre always adds interest to the pictures, especially when spots are used prominently. I find it’s good to shoot from the side of the stage as well as straight on to have some pictures with dark backgrounds as the stage set can sometimes be distracting.
